What are the qualifying criteria for the Recommended Vets? I think mine are completely brilliant, but are not on the list.
However,
I, fortunately, have not experienced anything like UTI or URI or anything chronic, so cannot comment on things like that

There's no set rules really but it would be ideal if you had experienced some sort of illness that shows your vet has a good working knowledge of treating guinea pigs or is an exotics specialist. Here is the thread for recommending vets if you feel yours should be added Members' Recommended Vets

Thanks, I’ve had nothing serious or particularly tricky (fortunately) so maybe I’ll leave it.

They have been excellent with my 4 hay eye injuries, 1 mites, 1 cyst, 1 mystery lump and 2 operations to remove said lumps.

Here’s hoping I never have to test them!

The eye Injuries, most vets can fix, eyes are the same for many animals.

The operations though, surely that classes them as a good vets to list

They were great. They encourage piggy friends to come too and both times she has flown through surgery with no complications (touch wood; we’re still only 5-days post !)

I think you have enough experience to say they are good. It doesn't need to be for serious conditions though eye injuries are fairly serious in themselves. Most people needing a vet need a starting point. I added my own vets on the list and they are general vets. Like yours they are good with the above list and I know that when it starts to get more complex they refer me to the local specialist

Sounds good to me, too. If you give us their details Lee can add them to the recommended vet list.

Thank you. They’re called Blackwater Valley Vets. They have two practices but I use Gordon House usually as it’s closer to me. Laura Felstead did both surgeries (she has four piggies of her own) but I’ve seen Vlada and George several times and they are all just so lovely and really seem to care about my little potatoes

The more people who can find a good vet the better, they sound like good piggie vets to me

Apparently not in Australia!
I had to have an eye specialist come to my vets 2.5hrs away from Melbourne to look at Mary’s eye. That cost me about $380 (£750?) for a 5 minute appointment to be told she should have an operation..which can only be done by him in Melbourne costing roughly $2000. (I haven’t gone ahead with the op as not effecting her yet)
