Hi,
Just been reading about flystrike on the forum. Having not got my piggies yet I am now worried.
Apart from regular hutch and piggy cleaning etc... is there any food supplements or sprays etc... that you can give piggies to prevent this happeneing.
We seem to have loads of flies in our garden ( live in countryside with nearby horses cows ducks etc, etc...).... maybe just me being paranoid?

Definitely dont want my piggies getting it!
Any suggestions would be great

Hi,
piggies are not as succeptible to this as rabbits I've never used preventative sprays on my pigs although i do on my rabbits.

Fly paper, very good hygeine ie hutches emptied and washed on alternate days and also ensuring your piggies are dry around the rear so don't put them on damp grass.

Although flys indeed love the proverbial they are also attracted to dampness so if bathed ensure pigs are dry before going back outside.

Good luck with your piggies

I use fly paper in my shed. Be warned though, don't forget it is in there. Peter put it up for me and I forgot! I thought it was a couple of dangling snakes! LMAO :))

Haha yep done that! One is tangled up in Pudsey and Eccles cage at the mo! They can't get to it I'll have to take it down they are more of a pain!

I'm finding snails more of a pain at the mo especially with the bunnys! :{

We've got gargantuan slugs all over our place, I've really never seen them so big and yellow its all i can do not to heave

Gorgeous Guineas do a Buzz off liquid that is diluted then sprayed around the hutch. We use this on our an outdoor hutches and inside the shed.
