Hello, long time no post. I hope this is in the correct thread.

Yugi is a very old lady by now and sadly has developed a lump. Originally my vet said it was an abscess then changed diagnoses to tumor. Ive been giving her metacam twice daily every day since to help with any pain.
Sadly I’m at the point where I’m not sure in my vets diagnosis and would like a second opinion… however I don’t know of any cavy savvy vets around Hertfordshire. I did check out the vet list but could only find the one on it in Hertfordshire and when I tried to look them up couldn’t seem to find it.

Her lump recently burst - which is why I’m not sure it’s a tumor as was diagnosed. She’s completely lively, not acting ill in the slightest but I would really like to try and get this sorted out for her or more information on it.

Thank you 😊

Hi

If you can travel a bit further, please consider the Cat & Rabbit Care Clinic in Northampton; they also specialise in guinea pigs and are well worth the longer journey - they have been seeing piggies from as Edinburgh or the Southeast. They are by far the best vets in your wider area with plenty of experience with abscesses of all sorts.
CAT AND RABBIT CARE CLINIC | Northlands Vets

Could you please let us know if a specific recommeded clinic is no longer contactable via this thread here: Members' Recommended Vets.
We rely on member feedback to keep our information updated. It is a far more fluid scene than most people would imagine. Thank you.

Thank you. I have been there before with Yugi but I wasn’t aware they also specialized in abscesses. Sadly I am without car at the moment so I’m not sure I can do the journey there. I am willing to travel nearby/around Hertfordshire

Can you get to a train station or could you contact TEAS for help with transport? The Cat&Rabbit specialise in guinea pigs - and they see plenty of abscesses, and not just dental ones.
