Hi. Apologies if this question has been asked before but just hoping for suggestions for indoor run or playpen that works? Pretty grim up north today and really want some inside exercise time for the boy piggies.:)
Have been internet trawling and not really convinced by what I have found yet.

I have looked at zooplus indoor runs but reviews are mixed - piggies escape? Any why are they an octagon shape rather than a rectangle? That does not seem good for fitting against a wall.

No other pets in our house but 2 small children so needs to be sturdy.
Do I need to look at C&C type grids to create a run?

Any experiences of indoor runs really appreciated before i buy - Thanks

If it's just an indoor thing, then using a cubed storage system like for C&C cages would be well worth the money, I'd go with that.

I know these arnt study for children http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pet-Play-...et_Supplies_Small_Animals&hash=item56466b8d95 but I recently bought these, you get 2 for £20 and basically configure them to your needs, and they make a big run put together, I clip the open ends together with bull clips, my kids understand they cant go inside the playpen, although they could easily step over in to it but they understand the rules.

My daughter made a indoor run with C&C grids, great that it can be made any shape, but kids have to know not to go in or push the grids over.

Another alternative is the ELC kids ball pit....it pops up and about 120cm square http://www.elc.co.uk/Ball-Pit/122601,default,pd.html
I use these as a bonding pool :)

Or I like the look of this because it looks like the panels can be put together as you want them and it is higher the the other runs I've posted

Thank you Salt and Peppers Mum - that is brilliant, really useful - and with pics!
I am quite liking the look of the ball pit idea - does it pack away quite well?

And yes - will have to enforce the 'dont go in the run' rule for the children, thankfully they have followed that with the outside big run:)

They sort of fold away by twisting :x Could never get it to look neat once it was folded down so I use a thick elastic band round it.

If you like the Elc ball pit you might like some thing like this?

:)

I've got that in medium & it's huge lol! It's only supposed to be around a metre across but measures about 1.4 metres on the widest bit, I could have down with the small really rolleyes It folds completely flat, comes with a floor & netting to cover the top. However if kiddies leant on it they would end up falling in :)

I nearly got the ELC ball pit but then read posts on here about guinea pigs escaping etc and changed my mind...do a forum search.

That said, I got this one in the end [ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/Trixie-Metal-Enclosure-Rabbits-Guinea/dp/B001FVR03I/ref=pd_sxp_grid_pt_0_1[/ame]

And only today I had an escapee guinea pig :o He managed to wedge his head underneath enough to push it up and squeeze under it!

how easy is the ball pit to keep clean?

I had the fabric run as their indoor run but it isn't big enough really AND the base doesn't wash up very well. It was good for Henry as a place to exercise when he had his op.

I like the ball pit idea. ping instant run and the sides are low enough to sit next to the piggies.

I have a C and C run down stairs and two wire runs out side, one from the Zooplus website.

I would like on for my room tho, that I could pop them in...........hmmm.

what are the problems with the ball pit, I did a search but couldn't find anything?

xx

The Elc Ball Pit measures just over 3ft square so isnt massive although I use mine for dating my foster piggies so comes in handy.
The bottom I cut an old waterproof table cloth to fit. Then with a few towels and hideys thrown in it makes a nice area for piggies to explore.

Cool, thanks, i just want something I can pop them in the morning for a change of scenery whilst I am getting ready for work.

I have just bought a new lot of cage "furniture" and am rearranging my room for them to have space to have a little run upstairs to stretch their legs in.

The C and C run is great I just WISH they would poo in one place!

The ELC ball pit looks great for indoor playtime. I'm also struggling with ideas to bring the boys inside for abit. The weather is getting alot colder and wetter here in the UK, so indoor time will be regular now. It looks like it would be hard to clean.. but the fact it folds away seems like a good idea. I may end up investing in it. If I do, I'll be sure to leave a review on it. :)

I agree that it does look quite good but I am also still investigating indoor runs with rigid sides as bit worried about the 'squishiness' (is that a word?) of the ball pool sides.
The C & C type grids at Screwfix are not in stock for delivery around here or in local store:{ so waiting until they come back in stock to have a look at them.
It is raining and raining here so need an indoor run pretty soon:)

Yeah its raining loads where I am too! :{
The C & C type grids I was hoping for are discontinued. So I'm going to take a look at this ELC one once I get paid. :)

Can you get to Leeds? JTF Warehouses do the grids, you get 12 for £10 :

They are in the storage bit, in pink or silver :)

The elc ball pit is great, it's fairly big and folds away under a bed:)

It is fine to clean just cut a value shower curtain up and line the bottom then top with fleece:))

VERY good idea. genuis in fact. You could sew it together and make it a proper cover - you know like the picnic blankets!
