hi,

our eldest little lady(2 year) who lost her daughter(best mate) is going on her piggie date tomorrow, she is a lovely lady who is so gentle and is struggling a little with grief.she has bilaterel congential cataracts,so cant see very well. fortunatly my partner has been off work and so has been cuddling her and encouraging her to eat etc...she has had lot of help, she is eating better now and hopefully will find her new friend tomorrow.......
fingers crossed everybody!

Hope she finds the perfect friend. Where is she going dating?

Jo is a great lady! Best of luck - but you can be reassured that you are in very good hands. My PiliPala and Papi are from Milhaven and I visited the rescue this summer when I went to pick them up.

Anyway, I have a little dedicated group of cataract sows with their own very gentle neutered "husboar" (he's a "rescue date" as well). Taffy, the worst affected, sadly lost her last rescue born daughter Telyn (the aby in my avatar), who she was very close to, two years ago to sudden acute heart failure. But she has found a loving new family in the new group I built around her and her new best friend, which she has still been leading until fairly recently.

Hopefully, your girl will find new happiness, too! Dating at a knowledgeable rescue is by far the best way to make sure that you get another loving relationship; I've done it a few times with bereaved piggies of mine. The new piggy never replaces the one that has passed away; they create their very own, unique bond with you in their own time.

I always find it very heart-warming and cheering to see a bereaved piggy suddenly come to life again and regain their sparkle and their their appetite for life as well as food as soon as they are with a new friend of their liking!

You are most welcome to post a tribute to your daughter piggy in our Rainbow Pets section if you wish to.

thank you so much for your kind and encoraging words, little bea who was izzies daughter was the more active and izzie is completly lost without her,bea also had cataracts so they both relied on each other,
i would never dream of going anywhere else but a rescue as they have so much knowledge etc,I'm grateful that jo got me in so quickly as bea passed on sunday, before christmas is never good to loose a little friend. we have given her lots of attention, but i cant wait to see her forming a new bond with another piggy!she is such a gentle piggie.thank you once again

Awwww well done for going to a rescue, it will be great to hear how it went. The rescues tend to be full this time of year so timing is good for dating.

Paws crossed! Your girl will have a great day.

Jo is lovely and was fab when I went to hers to date on of my boys earlier this year after a unexpected bereavement.

Thank you everyone for your kind words,
Well izzie spent 5 hours with a 4 month old little girl today, and they got on well!
So we now have little Eleanor or "Ellie" as she will be known, they are currently having a munch in their indoor trixie play pen! It will take some time for them to get used to each other, but fingers crossed we will have a long happy friendship, Jo was lovely and was very patient with my over protective piggy slave nature! I will upload photo when get one ..yes I have never cried so much in my life as when my piggies have passed! Why do some people always say "there only guinea pigs",
I hate that ,
Bea was a lovely little girl,as I type this izzie has just snuggled up with Ellie! Maybe I will sleep tonight ,

Congratulations on little Ellie.

Anybody who does not understand how we grieve for our little ones has no heart. I hope you sleep well.

I'm so happy you've found a a little friend for her and I'm sorry you lost Bea, hope you get a bit of sleep!

So pleased you found a match. People just don't get it.I lost my texel and it hurt like hell. This was couple of months ago and had to get another one as her friend was pining and that hurt as well.Talked to her picture on my phone saying she wasn't being replaced and I missed her loads.Only people on this forum would understand it

Thank you,I can relate to that,it seems strange seeing Ellie in Beas spot in the sleepy bit of cage,I went to work on the day after her passing and my eyes were squinty with huge bags! Felt awful, empty, lost.but then I couldn't bear watching izzie looking for her and not eating either .....

Fantastic news she found a friend at a rescue :D any piccies of the lovely pair? x

So glad they're getting on well. I do know how you feel as I'm sure most of us do.So sorry that you lost Bea. (((((hugs))))) Our latest loss was Rocket in August and whilst I'm very pleased for the girls that they've found a lovely new husboar in Edward ( and he really is an adorable little chap) he's certainly not a replacement for Rocket, as with all of our piggles, he was one of a kind. Looking forward to seeing some pigtures of your girls.

So glad Izzie has found a new friend in Ellie. A new piggy will never truly replace one that we have lost but it brings new joy and it's a warm fuzzy feeling to know that although we feel awful and grieve so much for our loss that we are able to offer a brand new start for another piggy who desperately needed a loving home.

Bea will never be forgotten and never be replaced but I am sure that Ellie will wriggle in to find a spot in your heart just the same. The people who don't understand the grief we have for our furry friends are those who never let themselves get close enough to an animal to realise that their love is unconditional and they have so much to give (often more than our human friends and family!) without judging, without expecting anything in return and loving us for who we are despite our faults. Animals truly are amazing, that's why their loss hurts so much.

hi thank you all for you lovely replies,i havent been on the forum much due to silly working hours, but the last few days you guys have been a real comfort to me.
anyhow..less about me! the longawaited photo!
I'm not a techno geek so taken bit to do this, but will post few more over next few days.they are settling down, although there has been normal behaviour...bit of rumbling...totally ignoring each other, but they are eating together now. have not known a very youngn piggie,as prev piggies all rescued been slightly older...so ellie is making me work to catch her! but managed to get her pinned down for a second to take photo!

I have put photo on gap forum Facebook site until I can work out how to make photo file smaller....hope you like photo x

@gertie grotbags I have added your picture in for you.
With the new style forum you can drag pictures from other sites. So what I did was click on your picture off tgpf facebook page so it opened in full, then clicked and dragged it into comment box.
