I weight the pigs every week and Beans is always the same, but Toast's weight can go up and down and it's usually that she's a bit bloaty...

Usually when she has bloat her side are quite firm and she doesn't poo as much, and it normally resolves itself with Infacol, lots of running and massages.

Her "normal" weight is around 1120-1130g and when she has bloat that goes up to 1160-1170g.

For the past week she's been at 1170-1179g (no changes to her diet) She seemed to have bloat at first so I have her Infacol and massages etc but a week later she's the same weight despite not feeling like she has bloat... if that makes sense?

So she's been 50g up for a week now, what else could it be? I was going to phone the vet but sometimes I think they think I phone far too much or take them in too much... :hmm:

To be honest, I would not worry about that kind of weight gain!

I would try gripe water instead of infacol. It works by causing a big bubble of gas ghat is easier to get rid of for babies but can cause problems with piggies.Gripe water works differently.

Thanks  Would the amount of gripe water given be the same as Infacol? I was told to give 0.2 mls 3 times a day.

You can give up to 0.3 ml in an acute major bloating situation.
Thanks, I'm not giving her any just now as I don't feel like she is bloated that's why I'm confused to the weight gain. I've also been cutting down on pellets so if anything I'd have expected her to have lost weight..

I'm gonna get her checked. She's normally at 1120g but she's pushing 1180g so I'd feel better having the vet look at her

Sometimes they just put on a little extra weight like us :)) I honestly wouldn't worry too much our girls go up and down by 70g depending on time of weighing etc...

Give the girls a cuddle for me

Thanks :D Yeah I just had her checked and like I though she's not bloaty. I was worried that it might have been though as she's had a few severe cases of bloat before that seem to have snuck up out of nowhere..

I'm far too overprotective with these pigs

Good that you had her checked and glad it's not bloat. I have read that a full bladder can add an extra 30g of weight so maybe that could account for it? Glad she seems ok otherwise.

It's been a gradual increase over a week or so, so I don't know if that would be a factor. I couldn't see my normal vet today, the new one said it could be something to do with the fact that the weather is going from hot to cold to hot to cold and she might be storing some fat?
