Hi everyone

I have 2 guinea pigs and 2 degus , now my degus have home made fleece pads covering bottom of the cage with fleece top and toweling on the undersize to soak up the wee.

I've decided to try these with my piggies and I'm making these 3 layers for absorbancy. I've measured the cage and will make them to fit the cafe and a spare set for when I wash it.

It makes life easier cleaning out the degus as it's just a case of shaking off the poo into the bin and then into the washing maching goes the fleece.

It will save me having to get shavings and the mess that shaving make.

Has anyone else tried this?

I know alot of people on here use fleece, towels, puppy pad and newspaper which is similar.

Ive not tried it as i think that fleece would be smelly but have been told it isn't so one day i shall try.
Also wouldnt washing it every other day be expensive in the long run with cost of powder and electric? Maybe i am wrong and I'm happy with megazorb at the moment, but i will be trying fleece in the future.

When I had piggies I used paper on the bottom then towels then fleece (don't use fabric softener it stops moisture going through) the fleece never smelled and I had 4 lots of both towels and fleece so I could wash 2 lots at a time. Worked real well for me.

Ok will remember that about the sofener, and can't wait to start using them should be this week once the sewing is done.
