Hello everyone! :)
I do not like the colour of my piggies outdoor hutch. I have kept my guinea pigs in there for 6 years and it has lasted really well, however it has started to look a bit tatty and old, so I thought I would give it a new coat of paint to liven it up a bit. :)
Since summer is approaching, I thought now would be a good time to start!

Here is a picture of the hutch (taken last year)

The colour is a bit manky now and the paint is starting to flake off...
So I am aware some people on here have revamped their hutch recently, and those threads have given me loads of advice and information :)
However, I was thinking, would it be possible to paint the inside of the hutch? And would the paint going on the outside of the hutch have to be pet safe?
The hutch has obviously been painted before, would I just paint over the existing paint or would I have to somehow take the existing paint off?
Oh and can anyone suggest any nice colours? I was thinking white on the inside and a greeny duck egg blue on the outside but if anyone has any other recommendations that would be great, preferably something that is light and summery? :)
Thanks for reading! xx

I've just painted my hutch in Cuprinol Garden Shades Forget me Not blue (basically bit darker than duck egg) and country cream inside and out - although it's not quite finished! The Cuprinol garden shades are pet safe and can be used on the inside and outside of a hutch.

I think if you painted the hutch, replaced the ironmongery and perhaps refelted the roof it would look good as new :))

I think you would have to sand your existing paint though!

Yeah I was planning on re-felting the roof too, as it is getting a bit scruffy! :))
Thanks for the pics, I really like the colour of your hutch :) xx
