Ok, I'm in the process of getting a garden shed so I can start to build a guinea pig/rabbit boarding hotel for our new busiiness.
I am looking to do something similar to one that was posted on the forum a while ago, it was a complete set of hutches built on a framework that went completely around the shed.
I have looked at the minimum RSPCA hutch requirements for both rabbit and guinea pigs and am seeking to match these by building a series of hutches that have ladders to other levels and then if safe to do so by using the run around hutch to run extension to an outside area. Obviously in summer the rabbots and piggys will be placed in fox proof outdoor runs, however in winter I will ensure they have enough run space by opening up other hutches by having dividers that will allow me to open and shut various parts of the hutch as and when needed.
I wanted to ask whether any of you know what is the best wood to use for hutches that will be indoors in a shed that will be cost effective, safe yet durable and also what are your thoughts about using corex to line the bottom of the hutches, to ensure that no urine leaks into the wood used for the hutches as they will obviously have alot of animals using them.
