I have 5 sows who have lived happily together for nearly 2 years now. One of the sows had an emergency spay operation over new year and she has been separated from the herd whilst recovering (I built an add on to the C & C cage so she can still see/smell her friends). She's been apart the recommended 10 days but when I tried to re-introduce her back to the others everything kicked off - they were all at each other. I left it as long as I could as I wanted them to re-establish their hierarchy etc but the girl who had the op wasn't looking too good - I think she went into shock and I thought she'd died as when I touched her she didn't react (no blood was drawn on any of the piggies, just lots of noise and flying about). Fortunately she was OK, I separated them again and she perked up and started eating etc again.

How should I go about the re-introduction again? Should I get her used to one other and then put the two of them in? I'm so worried for her but I don't really want two groups and they were so happy before :(. Any advice would be appreciated - Thanks!

Hi there just wondered how you were getting on? I am going through the very same, reintroduction ending in full on fighting. I have been a advised to bathe the pigs and rub with hay but due to Giddy's wound I will have to wait a while. Hope things have improved for you
