Hi guys,

I just woke up and saw that one of my piggies has developed an irritated completely bald/raw patch on her backside that was there last night.

I was wondering what things could possibly cause this so I have more information if she needs a vet. Thanks so much it looks like a rash or something, could it be an indication of bladder problems? I was worried about that with her but the vet said she was normal. Any insight is greatly appreciated

I know its not normal and looks sore but the vet isn't exotic so I was hoping for someone to tell me what it is so I know what to say to the vet otherwise they'll give teatree or something that's not good for her

We are not vets and are not qualified (nor are we legally able) to tell you what is wrong with your guinea pig. Whereabouts are you? Please add your county/state and country to your profile so that we can help you more we have members from all over the world.

No I completely understand that you can't say definitively what's wrong. I am just asking for suggestions as to what it could be as most people here must of had experience with this or has seen it before. Most people here would be more knowledgable on things that could be wrong as opposed to the regular vets who mainly, deal with cats and dogs. I live in South of Ireland and the only exotic in the country is 6 hours away sadly

skin conditions can be caused by a multitude of issues - mites, fungal infections etc, so we could tell you our experiences and the actual cause for your Piggy’s issue actually be something different.
