I used to have rats for a while until I found I was allergic to them. They chewed everyting joyfully, their bedding, their food, everything.
The piggies certainly chew but not anywherew near the way the rats did. They have not touched the plastic base of their current cage (the one they are in while I finish the C&C) and the rats would have destroyed it by now.

I found some cute plastic covered weights I wanted to use in the cage to prevent burrowing under the fleece. I'm going to watch to make sure they don't chew on them, but I was wondering how normal my piggies are, they chew up their veggies but leave the cage alone, is that how yours are?

Yes this is normal, we have both rats and pigs. The pigs are lovely to have out, they eat only fresh vegetables, hay and their hard food. Mine seem to just have no interest in eating things they shouldn't.
The rats on the other hand are another story, it is like having a two year old in the room, much rat proofing needs to be done before they come out.

Your lucky!
My pigs like to chew quite a lot, the love chewing their pigloos, and the C&C coroplast!
Though i know what you mean about rats, my bf has too and he lets them out and has to watch them so carefully, they chew on absolutely anything!
:))

My pigs do sometimes attempt plastic, but they only seem to be interested in certain kinds. They need to be kept away from plastic bags, and they think the zip on my fleece jacket is edible. But they are most interested in cardboard, paper, and wood.

jake likes my silver charm bracelet ;) seems to think it makes a good chew toy either that or he's pulling me to say i missed some mess in his home :)p

I have rattties and piggies and in all honesty the only thing the piggies chew up is cardboard tubes that they have been given. They have never touched any of my stuff - which is more than can be said for the rats rolleyes
