Hey there, I've had this beautiful little man, Cinnamon, for near 2 weeks, he's seemed active and healthy, but tonight he slept out in the open for once and I got a look at his resting breathing rate.
It seems even at rest he breaths noticeably faster than any of my other guinea pigs (my other guinea pigs are likely slightly overweight(I'm working on it), if that would have an effect.)
He's on the slimmer side, in my view, he's gained about 50g since coming to us and estimated at 1.5 years old ish.
The rescue I got him from had him vet checked in December and my week of watching him seemed to show no real issues, he's also been fine when in with Oxford our old lady piggy and I've had a listen and nothing wildly stands out to me as odd about what I can hear, but I'm also no stethoscope expert. No discharge, sneezing, coughing, anything like that, nice clean eyes, good coat condition. Generally seems healthy if a little slimmer than i'm use to for his age.

To note his cage mate died with out explanation if I recall the information correctly, I can probably get dates and if they were potentially related or not from the rescue (maybe a genetic disorder if not respiratory? he doesn't otherwise seem in respiratory distress)

I'm going to be sending this video to my vets also, but I was wondering if you folks had any thoughts on it.
It was a little tricky to video him at rest as he likes to keep an eye on me if I'm peeking in the cage, he's not super stressed out by me looking in he'll just sit and look at me, maybe come over to see if I have a snack for him. If I try to pick him up however, thats another matter, but he's less frantic about being handle than my other VERY skittish guinea pig in the cage below and once held, is generally pretty calm.

Thanks in advance

Edit: oh just to add, it is 23 degrees in here, its usually between 20 and 21 so it is a little warm tonight. My older piggy and him both have cool feeling ears though so I don't think they're over heating as such presently? Not super accurate I know but in my experience a hot piggy will have hot ears.

His breathing looks sliiightly fast but he might just be a bit hot -- they usually pancake in the open like that when they're hot. If he has pink feet, they might be redder than usual if he's hot so that's another way you can tell. He may have been kept outside or in a cooler environment before coming to you so he might just need some time to adjust to the new temperature. :^)
