Hi! New to the forum. I had a couple guinea pigs growing up but me and my bf just recently adopted a pair. We got lucky and were able to adopt an already bonded pair from the Utah Humane Society that were the same sex (exactly what we were looking for) we are having a ton of fun watching them thrive and learning their different personalities. I’m posting because I would love any kind of advice when it comes to teaching or getting your guinea pigs to use ramps. One of our pigs will go up the ramps no problem but we’ve never seen him go down. We put food/water on that level so if he’s up there while we are out/sleeping, he has access to the necessities. We’ve tried luring him down with his favorite treats and have also adjusted the ramps so they are less steep and have more stability. He will go down if we physically put him on the ramp in that direction, but I feel like it stresses him out. And the last thing we want is to traumatize him from using the ramp at all. I would LOVE any advice from you more experienced guinea pig parents out there

Hello and Welcome to the Forum.
:wel:

It is lovely to read about your new piggies and how much you are enjoying them.

You are right in thinking that many piggies don't like steep ramps, so reducing the incline (popping the end of it up on a box) might help.
Also what is the ramp covered with?
I know several members have had success getting their piggies to use ramps by putting a piece of carpet or rubber on their to make it feel more grippy.
If you can post a photo of your set up we might be able ot make more specific suggestions.
