Hi everyone,

Have seen some of the fab c&c cages in the gallery and am in the process of making a two storey cage for our pigs. Struggling to find something to use as a ramp at the minute tho. Tried looking for square guttering, but its all too small hoping for 4/5in wide. Tried local building centre and ebay so far. 8:)

Any hints on where you may have gotten your ramp would be appreciated, and any alternative ideas could be helpful! @)

Thanks
Lindsey

Most people seem to use two bent grids cable tied together with some fleece, vetbed or carpet tiles for grip.

Some people just put a house under at half height, but for that your piggies need to be jumpers.

I tried bending some but it was too hard! lol So i just used a piece of correx, made sure the lines were going downwards for strength, bent it to make sides and used some extra strong tape to hold it together. I'll try and find the picture of my cage and post it here for you.

A larger version of the pic is in the housing section about 3 pages from the back but as you can see I just used the correx that I used in the hay loft and taped a but if fleece to it for grip

Thats a great cage, I *** hopefully add a hay loft eventually. I got a spare cut of wood from homebase for 50p but I am not sure how I would attach it or whether it would be secure enough. And not sure about sides either, although I do have some correx left over.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for replying, have tried to bend my c&c grids, but they are too stiff to bend! mallethead may try the correx idea, have only got 2mm correx tho (from teacrate) so will double up for strength.

Thanks again for the ideas! xx>>>

I just used a grid, didn't bend it, and stuck carpet on it for grip.

To bend grids wear gloves, sit on some carpet and put your knees on the grid. It's important that you have the vertical wires towards you and the horizontal facing the floor (otherwise it won't bend at all...). If you can't bend it this way you either have very uncooperative grids or need to weightlift more :)).

You can attach a wooden ramp by drilling a couple of holes through and then using cable ties. However, you need to make sure your ramp has a side. :)

Yeah of course thats what I was struggling with how I would do that.
