Hey I'm new here and to guinea pigs. I just got a new double level cage for my two girls but they seem to have either no interest or trouble with the ramp. The cage is a Ferplast RABBIT 100 DOUBLE which claims to be suitable for guineas. The girls themselves are still young and the ramp seems a little slidy for them. Any suggestions for modifications to the ramp. Please help

Can you stick a bit of rough fabric or a carpet offcut to the ramp (use double sided sticky tape, so you can replace it when it gets grotty)?

Otherwise, you could have a tunnel made that you could stick to the ramp, so they feel safe using it. There are several members on here who would make them.

Hi Fiona, Welcome to the forum.

Is the ramp made of plastic? I bit of carpet secured to it may help your piggies get up and down

It took my girls a good few days to use the ramp in their hutch when they first went into it. I made sure they had everything they needed (food, water etc.) on the botton level and just let them find their way up in their own time. I tempted them with parsley and cucumber at the top and bottom though and they followed their noses :))

Be patient with them and they'll be whizzing up and down in no time!

I've got a double level cage too and I glued sides to the ramp and covered it in fleece which worked a treat :)

Thanks for all the advice I'll tell you what works when I can.

I'm thinking of making an upstairs in my piggy cage aswell so they have more room. Could someone put on pics of different ramps and there cages with ramps for ideas please!

They made it to the top. With a ramp covered in carpet. I have yet to see them go down but at least its possible now. Thanks everyone
