So I absolutely HATE the C&C I have made. I just don't like it. I've messed up the base, the grids I find fragile I have to pick it all apart just to feed them & poop scoop.

I have seen a lovely 2 storey hutch online which I am tempted to get as I will be moving home to my mums at some point soon as I want to rent/sell my flat to move somewhere bigger & this would be fairly good & compact I think - they could go in the conservatory as it'll likely be winter that I do this.

My question is, I have no doubt Billy will enjoy the ramp, but Rodney I am not so sure of. He is a porky lazy rex boy. Do people with ramps have an issue with their piggles using them? Would it be bad for their backs if I got it? I will try post a pic later...

?!

mine love the ramps, you could get a ramp tunnel and put carpet tiles on the ramp to encourage them to go up it ;)

sorry bout your CC cage x

A ramp tunnel? Where do you buy these?!

Also doesn't the wood get stinky indoors? I guess I can put a shower curtain down first then fleece...

I know someone on here makes them to fit. I used one of these over a plastic ramp

carpet tiles on for grip ;)

Ramp tunnels ;)

You could also add wooden sides to the ramp very easily - i did this with my boars double corner cage - I'm useless at DIY - but a couple of off-cuts of wood fixed to the ramp sides using no more nails glue and a few little tacs/nails to hold them in to place and they have a ramp that they fly up and down and cannot fall off. I used an old off-cut of carpet on the ramp - once this gets worn ill just take it off and replace it :)

Hi Pamelakt,

Only one of my guineas uses the ramp but Titch goes up and down it fine. It is made of mdf and doesn't even get wet so doesn't smell, I covered it with fleece though and it has a 2" glued on piece of mdf each side. She instintively knows to not jump from the sides and goes to the bottom to get off it. I used a cheap door mat on the face of it and it then gives them some traction.

Did you push the grids as far as possible till they click and did you get wire ties with it? You can then pull them together more then. Doing it like that does make it secure. Awwww, don't give up. They will love it.

They do take a bit of getting used to regarding leaning in to poop scoop and that but you soon get used to it.
Silly.

My boys live in a double story hutch and they love it! They didn't use the ramp at first but used it as soon as we put carpet on it. They now love zooming up and down! :(|)

My base doesn't fit properly but after 2 lots of it ordered totally wastin my
Money it'll have to do - so they come apart easily.

I just find it a huge pain!

I've just found a lovely indoor double tier indoor hutch each level is 100cm long tho. Even with the double levels is this too small for 2 boars?

I would say it's too small, as the ramp does take off some floor level. My boars is 4 x 2 top and bottom and just right!

Tbh I wouldn't go for one that is less than 4x2 foot on each level. This is because if by any chance your pigs won't use the ramp than they still have an ok amount of room just at the top. Although with boars 4x2 ft probably wouldn't be big enough.

I've found a lovely one that's 108cm x 59 cm

Ever so slightly out?

Well its 2ft deep but it is not quite 4ft. I'm just thinking in the case of them ny using the ramp then they'd be stuck in the top which is waaayy to small especially for boars. I have had this problem with my two girls and so I have now had to buy them a new hutch as I brought a double hutch that was less then 4ft x 2ft. Also 12 cms added to the length would make a lot of difference trust me!

Do you have a picture of your cage? I don't understand how it could fall apart, or why you have to lift it up to feed and clean.
Perhaps add some cable ties.

See this cage on how the cable ties were used on all the connecting points around the grids to make the cage stronger.

Because I have a roof on mine I have grids on top ( I don't trust Billy not to escape) so I have to undo them to feed - haven't figured out how to do a proper lid yet ;/

Oh... okay. You can cable tie the back row of grids to the wall in the back, and leave the front row lift up.

Sorry for spamming you. I just think a bag of cable ties will be a much cheaper fix for your issue.

Another idea. See the lid on this cage.

So how are they supported on top with just cable ties? I don't get it?!

My main problem is my base doesn't fit properly so it's pushing them I think, making them not sit right. The grids that is. But it's my second lot of correx I just can't keep buying the stuff!

Plus when I move back home they'll be in my bedroom & I feel a 2 tier may not take up as much floor...

Oh I don't know ;/ I want a house!

Also this indoor hutch it's ferplast can't upload a photo at mo, the one that's 108cm length - on top lever it has a bedroom/hay room that sticks out making it even longer on top... ?

Yes, they are cable tied. If you look closely at the last pic. They overlap the grids on the lid to make them bigger than the walls, so they don't fall into the cage.
