I would like to introduce to you all, Ralfie
and....
Dimitar Berbatov (We call him Berby though!)
I went to Pets at Home with my mum (furryfriends) to get some guinea pig nuggets. We took our bags of food to the till and the girl behind the till said to my mum "I am so glad i've seen you..." She then went on to explain that they had a guinea pig who had lost his friend (had to be pts ) and had undergone an operation to remove an abcess from under his chin. This girl said that she was able to choose who he went to. Only a couple of days before, I had a message off my old college friend off myspace who had told me of a guinea pig they had, who had an operation and had lost his friend and I said that I had no room for another piggie. My friend had told the people at Pets at Home that I am a guinea pig person and the girl who was there that day had told them all that my mum was a guinea pig person too so my friend was going to ask me, and this other girl had planned to ask my mum (not realising that they were talking about mother and daughter) - We went over to have a look at him and he came up to the bars, was wheeking and was incredibly tame. The girl told us that he had gone to a home before but when he got back to the owner's house, he wouldn't eat so they brought him back. My mum has a lot of guinea pigs and at first said she couldn't really have anymore... The girl went back to the till to serve people leaving us watching Ralfie. My mum said to him "Should I have you?" and he started wheeking at her... We then went back to the till and said we would have him. She brought him over to the till and we began to pay for our guinea pig food. She said to my mum "Can I pay for him for you as I wanted him to go to you?" - The deputy manager was behind the till too and said to the girl, that as long as she was happy he was going to a good home, thats all that mattered and that nobody had to pay for him.
I know lots of you have not had good experiences with Pets at Home and neither have we a lot of the time. I have to say though, Ralfie must have been loved very much by all the Pets at Home staff as he is one of the tamest piggies I know. Each time we go in now, they always ask about him and have told us before that they have been told that if they don't think the animals would be going to a good home, they can refuse sale and have done in the past.
A couple of weeks later, Ralfie started to look bored by himself so my mum had a look on GPR for a friend. We found a 4 week old boar up in Sheffield which was perfect as that weekend, we were going to pick up my sister from there. We contacted the girl and she was happy for us to have him. We named him Dimitar Berbatov (after the Tottenham Hotspur player) although we do call him Berby. They are great great friends and accepted each other straight away.
Here are some pictures of them both together...
