at this moment in time my piggie harper is on my lap, when i stroke her she makes this purring noise and her body shakes... i'm pressuming its like when you stroke a cat and they're happy they purr...

Am i correct in thinking she's happy when she does this?

Does any one elses piggies do the same thing?

Finally do all piggies do it? x

thanks will look it up, hard to explain on here regarding sounds, but as i stroke her normally she spreads out and half closes her eyes, when she's had enough she normally tries to jump off lol. time will tell lol xx

Learnt something new tonight.... I didnt know piggies purred when they are happy lol x

it sounds like what is called 'rumbling' to me, which i read was a sign of...*cough cough* becoming abit amarous? haha! my piggys only ever do this when they're flirting, when i bought them there first cosy they tried to have their wicked way with it and rumbled beforehand. so maybe your piggy has taken more of a liking to you than is usual ;) x

My guinea pig does that when I'm lightly stroking him after a bath. I always thought it was fear but I was told the shaking and rumbling noise meant he was enjoying it.

He always seemed fond of baths so I guess he does enjoy being pampered.

my piggys are always suicidal after their bath! haha! you're lucky to have a water loving piggy x

Sounds like you've got a very happy little piggie there :D.

There are 3 different kind of purrs -

The purr of contentment when being groomed or petted by you or another piggie.

An amorous purr is more vibrant and along with it is the hip swaying

and a purr of aggression which sounds more like a loud growling purr and is much louder than the other two. Along with that is normally pacing on the spot with their back feet.

I used to get lots of purrs from Rodney, mainly the contentment one its such a lovely sound to hear. :)
