1) my boys are 9 weeks old now and so they need as much room as possible- I'm thinking a 3x5, will this be okay?
2) because we are still trying to tame them will them having so much room in a c&c cage be okay, or will it affect taming?
3) what do you use for bedding in a c&c cage. I currently use sawdust in their cage but after a couple of days it makes the whole upstairs smell awful.
4) they will be in the spare bedroom but will the c&c cage be okay on the floor? I don't want to scare them when I walk in anymore than I already do and they're currently in a closed cage on a stand whereas the c&c will be on the floor open lid

Thank you

3x5 wow that's a great size, mine are in a 2x4, but if I had the room & hubby's approval, I would go bigger. He's still getting over the shock lol. The more room you can give a pair then the better. I started off with a small store cage not knowing any better, but on here I soon bought a c&c and it's the best thing I did.
My c&c is on the floor and it's great as when I have cleaned the cage I sit in with the boys and they will climb over my legs. Some people like to build tables for easier cleaning, but personally I like it on floor level and it fits in with my furniture.
As for taming them goes, I did hear that guinea pigs feel safer in a bigger cage as long as they have hidies. With any animal, it takes time to earn their trust.

I use fleece cage liners for my cage and again, it's one of my best choices, but it depends on your lifestyle and what you proffer. I put incontinence sheets on the bottom and then the fleece on top. Twice a day I use my hand held vac to poop scoop, I change the fleece every 2 days and clean everything every 5. Again everyone is different and likes to do different things. I haven't noticed any smell since changing to fleece apart from the hay, but I have got used to it. The only time my cage smelled was when I didn't realize I needed an absorbent layer under the fleece, I soon learnt though. I started off with puppy pee pads, but this worked out expensive so thats when I changed to incontinence sheets. The best thing about those is that they are completely washable. So I haven't bought or needed wood chips in ages.

3 by 5 is a nice size cage for your boys. Having a bigger cage does not effect how tame they will be. I use vet bed and towels as bedding. It needs to be washing every three days. My cage is on the floor. They get used to it.

I've got a trio of boys not just a pair lol. That's why I'm a bit concerned 3x5 won't be big enough. Bearing that in mind should I; make a 3x5 flat level or a 3x5 with a 3x2 or 3x1 loft? I'm going to put in lots of toys and hideys and make sure there is 3 of everything. I'm also keeping the indoor cage incase I do need to separate them in an emergency.

Where did you buy the incontincey sheet from? I've heard of the pads but not the sheets- are they the same as what you put on children's beds? Also, where did you buy your cage liners? I've been looking around and so far it's about £50 to have one made! I'm tempted to make one myself but not sure yet what or how it's made lol

Thank you :)

Yep the incontinace sheets are the ones you can use for babies etc. For your size cage it may be a case of a double ot kingsize waterproof matress protector. I got mine from my local large tesco...but i have seen on amazon and know most shops likr large asdas and sainsburrys also do them.
Making them really isnt that bad....there are lots of tutorials on youtube. Thats how i made mine... x

I bought my incontinence sheets from amazon, they were cheap and i'm happy to report they work brilliant. I got my fleeces made by 2 different sellers. One from ebay which are great, though I did have to contact her to see if she could make them bigger than her normal sizes, the first one I paid £25 for and it is a nice one.. The other lady who makes them has a facebook page and is making me 2 for £45 for my 2x4 c&c cage. She told me that if I ordered 2 then she'd give me a 40% discount.

Ahh wow that's good! Are you able to say who she is so I can have a look?
Ill also look on amazon! I found some sheets on eBay but I'm not sure if they looked a bit too cheap lol. Did you get the PVC one or the ones that have a soft fabric on the top?

you don't need fitted fleece You can buy it from a roll but matalan doing 2 fleeces for under ten pound .You can always clip it on so they cant burrow underneath
