heya! So I have two pairs of boar + sow.

They are seperate because the two boars originally had a fall out, so they can't be put back together now.

Would it be fine to introduce one sow, to the other pair, during floor time and vice versa? Like would the other boar get jealous or smell the other boars scent on his girl?

Or better to keep both pairs seperate from each other?

So you've got boar+boar
boar+sow+boar? Sorry your wording confused me lol.

I wouldn't put a sow with another boar during floortime if she is already bonded with another because yes I suspect it would disrupt the original bonding.

Sorry for the confusion! I have boar + sow, and then boar +sow.

Ah ok it makes sense now! No need to apologise I probably confused myself to be honest lol. But yeah I wouldn't mix them but I'll tag @Wiebke because I have never had boar+sow pairings.

Nooo don't do that because the 2 boars will fight over the sow, & it will probably be quite nasty fight. The best solution is to have the boys neutered then wait 6 weeks get another sow & put it with the other boar. Unless they are both neutered they can get pregnant & that can be risky. You could lose mum & babies.

I have had two lots of boar/sow pairings. I have had them all out together before. I did want them to all live together but the boars started fighting over the sows, so I split them up. I didn't have any problems from them being out together, the boars didn't fight outside the cage although that might have been a fluke.

From the left - sow, sow, boar, sow, boar (any excuse for a piggy pic!)

I am very lucky I have 2 boars living with 3 sows and the boars occasionally have a chin off but nothing serious. The top sow is Velvet and the top boar is Christian. Velvet makes it very clear she is in charge even of the boars. The boars are her sons though so that could be why.

Here is my beautiful piggy family in order from left to right we have:-
Dennis, Betsy, Velvet, Christian and Meg

Dennis and Betsy and very close and can always be found together.

In my photo, the second sow from the left is the mother of the two boars, and alone the boars got on very well. It's the grey sow, second from the right, who was top piggy in my home.

Hey sorry for the confusion, I have two boars and two sows already. Not two boars one sow. :) and all my piggies are already neutered.

Sorry for the confusion all - I didn't word my post properly.

I have boar + sow in cage one, and boar + sow in cage two.

Boars have had a fallout and I cannot put them near each other or they will get extremely aggressive towards each other, hence I seperated and got them a sow partner each.

I was thinking of whether when I have pair one out, if I can take sow from pair two, to let them have floor time together?

If not, would it be fine to introduce the sows together just for floor times?

I have had all my boars and sows out together, that were normally split up like yours, and they were fine, even the boars out of the cages together. Photo above shows the 5 of them together.

I think you'll get mixed responses to your question, as people's experiences differ. Personally I wouldn't mix up the pairs at floor time but others clearly do. Must depend entirely on the piggies in question.

Our piggies has already lived with each other, so being all together wasn't like introducing a completely new piggy.

My lot are fairly laid back and Velvet makes it clear that she is the boss as mentioned before!
