After reading about woodshavings part i can see that alot of you use vet bed i can see that it saves alot of money than buying woodshaving which i pay nearly £4 every two weeks. I have had a look on ebay and dont know which is the proper one ? i dont want to pay alot but at the same time i want to make sure it is the proper stuff. I want to know also what about when the toilet and about washing it would appreciate some advice thanks xx

helloo

vet bed/pro fleece is so much better and such a money saver ni the long term. I got mine fropm www.profleece.co.uk.

Lots of people get it from ebay but i prefer the quality of profleece and the ebay stuff.

I use vetbed too, its so easy. I put newspaper or towels underneath and just spot clean a couple of times a day with a handheld hoover to pick up poo. Most of mine tend to wee in the tray under the hay rack so I empty this daily and just wash vetbed every 2 or 3 days. I have got mine off ebay and have had no problems with it but if you want the best quality I would go with the more expensive stuff. If you get it from ebay, try to find the ones with rubber backing as they absorb the wee better than the green backed ones ;)

do you wash it in the sink or machine? and what do i use i ask cause of reaction and stuff x

Some on the forum wash theirs in the washer, and place the vet bed in an old duvet cover to keep the bits from going through your machine. I used megazorb that I thought was good, but it was costing me alot, around £6 a fortnight. My piggies love it. When i first put my boar Archie on it he was popcorning and throwing himself around like mad.:))

Hi
I've been using pro fleece for a couple of years and its still going strong - I bought it from the website mentioned above. I wash it inside an old duvet cover, using ordinary washing machine liquid, usually on a 30 degree short wash.
In the hutch I put a layer of newspaper then a layer of woodbased cat litter underneath the pro fleece - it works well at soaking up all the wee!rolleyes
Hope this helps.
PS I also use it as bedding for my dogs - larger pieces of course!

I have profleece (mine is chocolate coloured so it doesn't show poos as bad). I use fairy non-bio & wash it in the machine at 40 degrees, I use this myself anyway as I have highly sensitive skin, however I would recommend using a non-bio detergent to be kinder to the piggies skin!
