I use carefresh paper bedding and have been for a year. My piggy has been recovering from a URI over the past two weeks, and just the other day I noticed her nibbling on her bedding. I've never noticed this before. She still doesn't quite have her appetite back. She'll nibble on carrots, but hasn't shown interest in pellets or hay. I've been syringe feeding critical care. Any advice on why she's doing this? And is it harmful? Thank you in advance!

I have bought a bag of this to try recently, it actually says on the back of the bag it's not harmfull if ingested but if a large amount or food and water intake changes with using it to seek vet attention.

I guess of just nibbled it won't be too bad? Depends if she's eating alot I suppose.

Have you found it any cheaper than p@h £20 for the bigger bag and it's not going to last me 2 weeks

I live in the US and pay close to $20 for the big bag. I think I'll be switching to fleece soon though because the bag doesn't last more than a few weeks

Ahhhh okay, I tried fleece buy I found with three boars living together after 2 days it was sodden and I was struggling to keep it clean I picked them up one day and they where wet.

Although it looks really lovely I wanted something a bit more natural looking

Since switching the to carefresh one of my piggies has started to sleep outside the hides which is nice

My pigs nibble paper bedding on occasion and have always been fine. Was your sick pick on antibiotics? Sometimes they can upset the digestive tract and lead to pigs ingesting things that they otherwise would not be tempted to eat. I believe eating paper bedding is more of a health risk for reptiles, but I would think that the piggie digestive system would be able to handle it fine (they eat tons of hay, which is much harder to break down than processed paper!) I would only worry if it's a large amount. Just watch to make sure normal pooping is taking place too as a precaution.
