Hi,

I thought I would try out fleece, and bought some from my local market to make a cuddle cup. That worked out fine, so I thought I would try making a large "pad" for the bottom of the cage: fleece one side, wadding in the middle, cotton at the bottom. To save money I bought a fleece from Primark, as I've read some posts here about Primark selling cheap fleeces.

Well, the fleece doesn't seem to be "working", it's been in half a day and it's wet. The market fleece in the cuddle cup I made wicks the wee away with no problems.

I washed both 3 times before using them, with no fabric conditioner.

Does anyone have any idea why the Primark fleece didn't work? I think I'll have to go out and buy more from the market!

I am sorry, fleeces have usually worked with the treatment you have been given them.

Sadly, I have no idea what could have gone wrong!

I think it's the wadding in the middle when I did a similiar thing, but mine were wee pad's it wouldn't wick though! :(

Thanks everyone for your replies. There's is newspaper underneath the pad, which seems a little drier this morning. I'm going to change them back to hay though for now and try getting some more of the market fleece, it seems so much better.

Did you use wadding used in quilting if you did then it's not letting the moisture go through. You could do with either towels or incontinence pads underneath the fleece so the moisture goes through the fleece and into the absorbant item underneath.
