How many times does it need to be washed before it becomes right for Guinea bedding?
If you wash it so many times, it stops the pee and water and stuff from sitting on it and it then goes through the fleece, doesn't it?

Also, do I have to wash and then dry it before I can wash it again?
Or can you just keep washing it without it being dried between washes?

I'm slightly confused @)

I washed mine three times before I put them in the cage and I didn't dry them between washes (but I wondered the same!) I notice that they wick faster with every additional wash, so I assume they'll just get better and better until they fall apart :). The towels also get more absorbant with washes (I bought new ones).

That's brilliant. Thank you.

It's a nightmare when you put a fleece in that hasn't been washed enough (Which I did yesterday! :x ) and all the pee sits on it.
Luckily they mainly pee in their litter trays but they do have accidents here and there...It's just nasty when they run through it get soaked in their pee @)

Now I know, I can make sure that all new fleeces are washed enough so they're ready to deal with my cheeky little piggies.

No expert on piggy bedding, only been using fleece for a month or so but I have launched straight into fleece bedding from 4 years cloth nappying. There is much talk of pre washing for absorbant materials in the cloth community (yep, there's a forum for everything ;-) but never for fleece, which is used both for wicking wee away and for waterproof layers. So I just wash once for hygiene and that's it :-).

I was another cloth momma too. I used fleece liners.

This feels very much the same - the paper, towels and fleece :))

it does work better if you wash and dry each time. Id say at least 3 times, using no fabric softner or tumble dryer sheets
