Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the fleece liners containing Zorb? I am drawn to this one due to it's highly absorbent properties but unfortunately I can't get Zorb over here on the continent and for the cost it would be to ship I may as well go the whole hog and pay someone to actually make the liners.

I've been looking into the liners sold by CandEcosies does anyone have one of these? They look fantastic but they are very pricey when you have to factor in shipping and currency exchange rates. I am planning on building a 5x2 C&C cage with a 2x2 loft so you can imagine the price for 2 sets of liners, coupled with the fact that I can't get the C&C materials in my area either and have to order that as a kit.

Spoiled spoiled piggies (of which there are only 2!)

Thanks

Sorry no experience, but am bumping this thread up for you

I am jumping on this thread to bump it up, as I am also interested in the replies.

Plus I wanted to add a couple more fleece liner questions (hope that is ok).

I am also about to get a 5 x 2 C&C.
For those of you with the same size cage, are you happy with one liner, or would you prefer to cover the base with (for example) 2 smaller liners, so you could change half the cage at a time?
And in relation to the above, does a 5 x 2 liner fit easily into a standard machine?

I also wondered if anyone had any strong thoughts about colours.
I am so tempted by all the gorgeous patterns out there, but is there any particular colour that just looks awful in a very short time?

I'm sorry, I've no experience with Zorb liners. From what I've heard second-hand, absolutely worth the price as they are very absorbent and quick-drying. I have towel-core liners and they are a little heavy, take over a day to dry indoors and can get a bit saturated in heavy traffic areas, even with pee pads. Could you not buy Zorb, some fleece blankets, and sew yourself some liners for cheaper? It was surprisingly easy to sew myself a WEAVER Cosy Canopy, and it's so similar to a liner (just smaller) that I no longer feel intimidated by the prospect!

EDIT: Just read about your lack of Zorb, derp. Why not use a mattress protector or similar, sewn onto a piece of fleece as shown here?

@Swissgreys, I have two 2x3 liners in my 4x3 cage. Being able to change the part of the cage under my loft more often is really useful, but I mostly got the different-sized liners so I had options in case I wanted to change the cage around (i.e. to a 2x6). My liners, plus 3 1x1 pee pads, another 2x2 loft liner, and two cosies all easily fit into a washing machine. One thing I will say about smaller liners is if they shrink a little, they may no longer meet in the middle of the cage again after washing, leaving a nice gap for my piggies to pee into :roll:.

No strong preferences about colours, but one thing I regret is my white loft liner -- pee, poops, and squirty bits of tomato are so obvious, and it gets dirty quickly. I prefer my plain grey liner so I can jazz things up with cool-looking funky cosies and tunnels... I feel like my bright harlequin liner doesn't match anything else I have, and not in a good way!

I have no experience of zorb liners but have towel ones from Ziggies piggies they are good and reasonably priced.
I have a 2x4 liner. In my now 2x5 cage. It fits in my washer no problems with other items in a wash bag. I also have a 2x6 cage and I am glad I have split the liner so I have 2 2x3 liners as its easer to manage when cleaning. Hope this helps.

@Danielle Smith thanks a lot - that's really helpful.

I am thinking I will try and have some zorb sent (expensive, but cheaper than buying full liners) and try making my own.
Plus if I go with the plan to use more than 1 liner for the cage, they should be pretty easy to handle.

And I know what you mean about the bright patter overload
I am always tempted by all the bright, fun patterns I see everywhere, and already have a very eclectic assortment of fleece items.
Hmm, I am thinking a basic colour for the liners might be the way to go

@Julie M thank you.
I also love the stuff from Ziggies Piggies.
And it is nice to hear from someone else who uses split liners too.
Do your pigs ever try and burrow under the join in the middle, or do you cover it with stuff?

I have mine light blue with polka dots, purple polka dot, black with red polka dots. And light blue with white stars.

Mine are Ziggy's liners too; great quality, cheap price, but prone to shrinkage. Mine aren't burrowers, so I haven't had that problem. When they have a mad half-hour or are surprised they can kind of slide around on the fleece/correx and bunch it up together so there's some correx exposed. I usually try and put at least one item over the join to stop that from happening though.

i have Cand E cage liners,they are 6x2,they absorb moisture extremely well,dry in 4 hours,i fit one in the machine in a horse bag easily.i have had mine two years and they are still going well,no shiringage,ive washed them at 60 degrees ae well.so well worth the money,as i spend 300 pounds a year on disposable bedding for the two hutches outdide!I'm not sure on the cost of shipping.x

I have had quotes from ziggies and from CandEcosies. I have to say I think I will be going with the zorb from CandE as it's only a tiny bit more expensive and more than likely worth it for the quick drying and 10x absorbancy... plus CandE tend to discount multiple liner orders (and increase those discounts over bank holidays). As there is another bank holiday coming up I am keeping my eyes on their site.

Ziggies has some very cool cage accessories it has to be said. Liking the tunnels and the cubes!

edit: added the links in case others did not know them and are also interested.

@Squeakz thanks for the tip!
I didn't know about the discounts, so think I will keep an eye on the site, and maybe order then. It might at least help off set the cost of postage.
Can someone tell me when the UK bank holiday weekend is please?

Let me know how the liners are when you get them and I will maybe try them the next time I need liners.

Mine never try to burrow. (Probably too lazy) :xd: But I use puppy pads under my liners they seem to stick to the liners as I have to peel them off at cage clean time. Maybe this stops them sliding. (The puppy pads aren't always dirty so sometimes do multiple cleans before being replaced)
