When feeding mushed up nuggets to a poorly guinea pig specifically when they’re eating it straight from a bowl, how often should a fresh batch be made and put in the cage? Ella had a bowl about 4pm when she got home from the vets. Will it be ok to leave there overnight or should she be having a fresh batch before bedtime? TIA x

You can leave that batch in the cage. Keep in mind that the actual weight loss is currently just over what we would define as a weight loss. Just about two medium dinners' worth or a large meal and two big pees.

In view of your two other girls being overweight, I would recommend to try to feed her outside of the cage from tomorrow. Try to make up less but make freshly more often. See how she reacts to the baytril.

Thank you. She won’t eat outside the cage 😞 but I’ll keep trying. She’s down to 995g today. It’s as if she wants to eat but can’t x

Then please switch to syringe feeding and up the rather low cat metacam dosage you have been prescribed. You may find that she likes emeraid better than critical care; most piggies do.

Thank you. I’ve increased her metacam dosage this morning. I really wish cat metacam had never been licensed 😞

I have been feeding mushed up pellets to one of my guinea pigs too. I can't always have him eat out of his cage when the children are home so I made him a temporary dinning area in his cage. I made a small C&C grid area that I put him in the cage so his very chonky friend can't get at his food while he is eating it.
