Should rescue pigs go through a period of quarantine before moving in with other pigs?

If they come from a reputable rescue then it shouldn't be necessary, but it depends a lot on the actual rescue.
Pretty much anyone can call themselves a rescue, so unless they are on the recommended list or you physically saw the set up in person and the rescue explained their own quarantine procedures I would probably play it safe.

If the new pig is an adult - yes
If you have 2 new pigs younger than 4 months old - yes
If you have one new pig that's younger than 4 months - no.

Only if they come from a shelter or rescue without mandatory quarantine upon arrival and any necessary medical treatment. Since anybody can call themselves a rescue and/or a breeder without licensing and supervision, the level and practice can vary enormously.

You will have to ask the rescue you are using unless you adopt piggies from one of our recommended rescues you can find via the rescues map (which includes a link to international rescues); a mandatory quarantine and pregnancy watch is part of what we consider 'good welfare standard practice'.
