Hello I recently posted about my boars having a fight and one getting injured. It had scabbed over but now the scab is lifting and a yellow lump is protruding.
Is this normal or do I need to call into the vet? I have never dealt with injuries before so I’m absolutely clueless.

I cleaned it out and there was pus. We’re calling the vet tomorrow as there’s only one experienced in Guinea pigs. This is how it looks right now

I expect that is quite sore so the vet will probably give pain killers too. Have you separated your piggies?

Keep it clean until you can get to the vet but antibiotics and painkillers are most likely going to be prescribed

i hope he is ok

It is infected, he’s on antibiotics but he may need surgery just to scoop out any excess, but they’ll check next Thursday as he is now getting neutered so that he can be put in with the girls.
The other male will most likely be getting neutered later on this year.

I’m sorry it is infected but I’m glad you’ve had him seen. Hopefully the antibiotics will do the trick and he won’t need surgery. All the best for his neutering op x
