I'm new to owning piggys so am still getting used to the sounds they make. Ive noticed them making a kind of coo-ing sound like a bird does? Its a bit like purring...does this mean they are happy or what? and do they squeek when they are scared or are they talking? I'm a bit confused! lol! By the way, my speakers arnt working so no links to youtube pls!

Any cooing sounds are absolute fine - they are relaxed and updating their companions that all is OK with them. (Guinea pigs live in grassland, so they use sound more than sight to keep the group together and informed about each member's "status").

If they are frightened, they tend to go quiet. A piggy that chats on your lap is a happy piggy. There are some drama queens out there that might scream even if just touched them, but you will find them out quickly. My little Tegan is one, for example!

well I havent had any screamers apart from a little shriek from duke when I picked him up and he tried to run away rolleyes
The cooing starts when I put one of the group back into the cage. The rest of the time they are pretty much silent

That's just the "hello - good to see you again - I'm back in one piece - is everything OK here?" greeting. You'll get it every time!
