Hi,
My guinea pigs have started to purr/vibrate whilst I'm holding them. It isn't rumble-strutting or anything as they don't make a noise when they do it - it's more of a "phone on vibrate" kind of feeling. It was similar to their shivering after a bath (which I only gave them because it was absolutely necessary), but don't think they're shivering as they're kept nice and warm (they have a hutch inside over winter).
Are they just purring, or is it something else?
They're both about 6/7 months, female abyssinians.
Thanks :)

Piggies don't purr as a cat does when it's contended. .
Well done for keeping them warm inside .
if piggie seems settled and having a treat or grass them it's good but could also be a scared noise away from comfort. . hutch.
Pls read forums here about noise etc on here.
:wel: to great piggie site

Thank you :) they don't actually make any noises when they do it though, they just vibrate, it feels like a cat purring, but without the noise

When they in hutch do they make same noise. I think could be nervous. .
I had a piggie and she freezes when out her home. bless her
