Ive had Dori and Maisie indoors now for a week as they are still getting over there illness and its too cold outside (plus its easier to spoil them inside) but ive been using newspaper and blankets but they started to smell so i went to p@h today and bought puppy toilet training pads to see if they are any better. has anyone used these before?

I've used puppy pads under my pro-fleece (like vet bed only thicker) for a few months now, and had no problems with them. I originally used newspaper under the bedding but started using pads because we don't get a regular newspaper delivery and my neighbour who used to give us her papers moved away. I used to buy a biodegradable type which I put on the compost heap but P@H stopped stocking these (and they didn't really compost very well anyway!), so I now use their own brand ones.

My one concern with them was that the piggies might start to nibble at them as they used to do with the newspaper, however, that hasn't been a problem - they don't seem that interested and I always make sure the pads are well covered by the fleece. They are pretty absorbent and the benefit of the plastic backing is that moisture doesn't seep through to the floor of the hutch. I'm not sure that they have made any difference to smells - whether you use newspaper or pads both will smell if they're not changed regularly.

Probably a more expensive option that newspaper (and less ecofriendly) but they work for me and my piggies!

Asda sell 14 puppy pads, for £4... Pound shop sell 5 for a £1 but they are smaller than asda's one. I now use incopads, but puppy pads worked for me previously under fleece!

ok kool il keep an eye on them to make sure they dont chew them lol

Thanks :)

Same here :(|) i use the p@h pads under fleece i also have a gravel tray from wilkison i put newpaper in the bottom of that followed by normal hay, food dishes also go in there along with the timothy hay in a heap between the dishes to keep it from getting trampled.
as they eat in there mostly all the pooping and piddling goes on in there too which is ace, this means i only have to do a full wash fleece and change of pads every week (only the ones with evidence of pee on mind! i think it would work out to expensive for me as i use 5 pads in the c&c if i chucked the lot!)
i change the hay tray with the food bowls in daily sometimes twice if it looks busy in there :)>>>
-c I'm going to look out for the ones in asda after seeing above post! thanks
