Has anyone experience of using puppy pads as temporary bedding. The girls are usually on Aubiose and hay but have to go into o.h's office over Christmas and he's drawing the line! Thank you in advance.

I use aubiose on top of puppy pads, but have also used fleece blanket on top of puppy pads, the top layer of puppy pads can remain wet if not changed frequently,so i usually use another bedding on top,as above.:)

Thank you eileen, I'll use the pads but carry on with the Aubiose too - guess I was looking for an easy option over the holiday!

I use pads in the run. Snowy is in there as it is bigger than his cage.

He's got ringworm, so the pads are more hygienic than fleece.

Does he not eat them? I'm always concerned the girls will get under the fleece (because that seems like something they would do for mischief) and nibble at the pads underneath.

Nope. Has nibbled once but that was it.

One of my girls got under the fleece. So I draped it over the correx base and I use pads the other end.

My girls are terrible at eating puppy pads. I was cleaning one hutch and could hear the others up to no good turned round and she had dug up the fleece and was munching on puppy pads. She got a stern telling off.
I have never heard of anyone elses pigs eating them though so you should be safe using them. I just have naughty girls.

I was initially using pads under aubiose as per recommended for piggies, but I actually found that doing this prevented the aubiose from absorbing moisture as it should. The puppy pads were absorbing the liquid and then leaking from the bottom and floating on pee, and the aubiose was completely dry and doing sod all to help. I now have mine on aubiose on a standard non-absorbent base as per recommended for other small animals, and it's doing its thing like normal. So do be aware that your plan may backfire a bit!

If it were me I would probably switch them on to cardboard squares (also officially a horse etc. substrate) for the duration of being in the other room. Depending on brand it's not quite as absorbent as aubiose, but it's also significantly less messy.
