I have been using puppy training pads in my cages for a while now, I find them excellent can keep an eye on the wee wee make sure there's nothing strange going on. Easy to change just roll it up and throw away. Super absorbent too I tried fleeces didn't get on with them at all neither did the piggies, very happy now tho I would recommend these no problems at all

Thanks for the tip! are they expensive? do u use and bedding on top? do you have to cut them to size?

I use puppy pads under fleece in their main wee spots. I get mine from quality save, they're £1.99 (I think?). I love them! They have baking soda in them to stop nasty smells too.

Not too expensive I go to b and m bargains or home and bargains. 30 or 40 pads are about 4.99 can get 14 for 1.99. Don't go to pet shops they are sooo expensive. I just fold to size or if u cut they might leak. I put plies of hay in one corner for them to eat and forage, have bedding of hay in there little hideaways other than that no just what your piggies would prefer I guess. They do tend to push the hay about anyway to what they want. Good luck with it. U can get them on e bay. Just prefer to shop for mine

Do u need to layer them/put newspaper underneath? how often do u change them/muck out? they sound practical and hygienic x

Do your pigs try to chew the pads?

I don't layer mine. They have waterproof bottoms but I have towel under just in case they miss. I change mine whenever they need to be done. It's really easy because the pee shows up really clearly.
Yeah your so right prefer a bit of newspaper underneath tho suppose it depends how big your cage is

I've noticed they're not completely waterproof though. I have little pig tents that have a removable fleece mat that I put a pad under, but the bottom of the tent still gets wet.

Only one of mine likes to chew holes in them, so I have to hide them under the fleece! But that little piggy is addicted to kitchen towel and cardboard....I think he just loves a good nibble but he ignores all the wooden toys!

Ah yeah no wot u mean gave up on pig tents because of it maybe a bit of back to nature bedding and litter helps to absorb the demon wee:lol!:

Funny how there so different isn't it my new piggie hasn't bothered about the mats at all only had him three days thought he might chew. He prefers the cage bars silly monkey !

I use the home bargains ones for travel when my elder guinea comes on holiday with us - they are great for holiday in the pop up pen and travel bag/carrier for in the car.

I don't use them at home as my garage/outdoor in summer guineas are on newspaper and hay and my indoor on matting/vet bed.

I know the pads are not recyclable so I tend to use newspaper and hay as they can go in the garden and recycle bins but for travel those pads are so handy.

Yeah recycling is an issue as far as I'm aware the hay and poop I don't think I can put in my recycle bin but I will have to check that one. I do still put news paper underneath tho I recycle that x

Unsure about recycling hay and poops, but they are great for compost (if you have a garden).

Our County Council told us we can't put dirty newspaper & poops in our green or grey bins (Garden & recycling bins) so ours can only go in landfill :( I use children's bedwetting mats from Home Bargains, they are £5 for a big pack & I use them under fleece as mine would eat them otherwise & I would be worried about them ingesting plastic!

Not tried the children ones. thoughts the ones being for dogs might destroy odour better, might try them how many do you get in a pack?x
