Since Tuesday I've been using vetbed in my hutches with newspaper underneath. I've got some puppy pads to put underneath it but I'm not sure if what's in them is safe for the guinea-pigs. The main thing I'm worried about is it says they have baking soda in them to control odours, if the guinea-pigs chew it will that be bad for them? Is there a better thing I can use (newspaper is normally quite wet from all the pee so I'd like something quite absorbent, and someone suggested puppy pads to me)
Thanks for the help

I have just started to use puppy pads this week with news paper on the top of them. The guineas can't get to them, but I have not put them right at the edges, they are about five centimeters away from edges, if you get what I mean.

I use puppy pads under fleece and the pigs have shown no interest in trying to get at them and chew them. I velcro the fleece to the sides of the cage to keep it in place.

I think if I saw any sign of nibbling I'd probably stop using them.

I know a lot of people on here use layers of towels to soak up the wee instead.

I use layers of newspaper to soak up the wee. I do change the girls every other day though to stop the smell.

Ok thank you everyone. I'm washing all the vetbed today so I think I'll try the puppy pads and put lots of newspaper on top.
