My piggy has been poorly lately. I while back (over a week ago) I took him to a vet that prescribed Baytril (an antibiotic) which has thankfully helped. Now that he's finished the antibiotic, I've got a probiotic to give him and I wondered if anyone might have had experience using this. Apparently the whole packet makes 2L. Does this mean he has to drink 2L over however long it takes?

I’ll tag @Hannah_xx in case she has come
Across this product before.

It is most likely a case of making up a small amount each time. I would not think you can make up a whole sachet in one go as if it makes 2 litres then it’ll be ruined before it anywhere near finished.
I don’t use powdered probiotics but it’s usually something like a couple of ml a few times a day or just directly sprinkle the powder into food or adding a pinch to syringe deed so 2 litres will take you absolutely months to get through.

Thank you for the tag.

Unfortunately I haven’t used this product-sorry! But as piggies&buns said I wouldn’t make up the whole lot in one go as it will spoil before you’ve used it all.

Would it be dangerous to concentrate the probiotic? Instead of making 2L, should I put the whole packet in 500ml?

Please don’t do that!
Even 500ml is an exceptionally large amount - you’re probably only going to be using a couple of ml a day.

Is this the only probiotic you can get?

Yes, this is the only probiotic we have. 😕 Should we need to buy a liquid probiotic online instead, what would you recommend?

I use one called Fibreplex. It’s a paste in a tube and you press one click worth (1ml) directly into piggy’s mouth.
The other is pro-c which is a powder. You either add a pinch to water, dissolve it and syringe it, or add a pinch directly to syringe feed, or sprinkle a pinch over food.

I think what might be making the one you have tricky is because it seems to also be for use by larger animals also who probably would need a while two litres made for them.
