From what you've said Eileen, it sounds great, but I've just googled it and this is what it says:

It is treated with an antibacterial agent which has been carefully chosen for use with horses. Biodegradable, rots quickly down on the muckheap.

Probed horse bedding has a bitter taste to it which discourages eating of the bed, while the unique blend of aromas aids the respiratory system.

Does anyone know if the antibacterial agent is safe for piggies and also whether it's safe if they eat it? I've just tried a combo of newspaper, shavings with a flax bedding on top for extra absorbency, as my girls wee a lot! They also like to nibble at the flax bedding

Any help appreciated.

I use hemparade from zooplus and my two sows will eat it sometimes. I cover it sith lots of hay to distract them!

It is really good absorbent bedding.

Thanks flowerfairy - I've not heard of that one either! Every day's a schoolday!

Aubiose is a very absorbent bedding,it is not treated with anything.it is a horse bedding and retails at £10.the bacterial agent in probed is not harmful to piggies,it is used in medibed which is another chopped straw bedding used or horses and piggies.you could ask the probed company what is put in probed bedding to be sure what you are using.the aromas I'm not too sure about though,do you get basic bliss where you are ?

Thanks eileen - I'm using Littlemax shavings on top of newspaper at the moment (and added some flax on top for more absorbency this last time). The shavings are brilliantly dust free but do have some quite rough bits in which I'm not too impressed with. I've not seen Bliss anywhere local, only online but I know Aubiose is recommended on here for piggies.

From what I gather, Bliss and Aubiose are basically the same thing, is that right?

i use Aubiose, green flax and megasorb,i use megasorb in the litter trays and aubiose in rest of cage/hutch.Aubiose is very good if you have piggies that wee alot.put hay over the top in sleeping areas,i use a depth of 3cm.
