I currently bed my piggies on large flake dust extracted shavings, they are really good and not dusty at all and I buy them in big bales aimed at horses. I originally kept the piggies on shavings as that's what they had been used to before I got them but was thinking of changing.

I use shavings for a 6' x 4' run the the shed and the 3' double level hutch which is open in there (2 piggy boars) so I can't really afford to be getting anything very expensive. I found a local supplier of aubiose but when I went in they said not to use it for guineas as they are likely to eat too much of it, is this true?

The man recommended pro-bed instead, but is it suitable for piggies?

Personally, I would not use it in case they eat it as it can cause a blockage. I love vet bed and that is what I use.

a lot of people use aubiose. If they want to they can eat anything. One member of the forum had piggies on finacard (cardboard) and hers ate that.I have just ordered it for mine

Vetbed and fleece aren't really options for me at the moment as we don't currently have a working washing machine and would also struggle to dry it

Thanks piggyfan, I have looked through all the info on here but couldn't find anything specific to pro-bed. I'm looking for something I can get locally and as the man in the shop highly recommended this bedding I wondered if anyone had tried it. I'm not unhappy with my current system, it does work well for me and the piggies but thought I'd research this for when my current supply runs out.

To be honest I'm never going to go down the fleece route, mainly because I don't agree that it gives the piggies the same foraging/rummaging opportunity that is a natural part of their behaviour. Although I do understand that there are lots of fleece lovers here and wouldn't try to force my opinion on them. My pigs do have fleece snuggle bags though and I may go down the vetbed route in the bedroom in future

I use vet bed and put hay in a pile which my pigs like to burrow in. I also have a fleece they like to hide under. Just thought I would add that.

I do really like vetbed and will most likely go down that route in future just in the bedroom.

I emailed the company who make pro-bed yesterday to ask what it was treated with, so far no reply

Me too, thanks for your input on the thread piggyfan
