my jinnywigs bob and jim normally live in an indoor cage, but while i've been having renovations done on the flat they've had to move outside while the work's being done. they've always had a pen for playing and munching grass, but i'd never left them outside over night before. i was constantly looking out the window at night with a torch to make sure they were ok! haha! i've found that they really enjoy it out there though. anyway, i used to work with the young disabled in a residential home, their rabbit died afew days ago :( but the home kindly donated the hutch to me so i can use the old hutch to foster hedgehogs for hedgehugs hedghog rescue http://hedgehugs.net/, feeding them up and whatnot ready for hibernation, and to hopefully be released when they're well and big enough :) really chuffed with the hutch

please excuse the state of my garden! we've had the tent up to hide in for 6 weeks while the work was being done on the house, and it's killed all my grass!

i really want to paint the hutch, can anyone advise me on jinnywig safe paint? x

That hutch is beautiful! :))

Awwwwww what a lovely new hutch its really nice :)

Wow that is a great hutch! I am not an expert on paint but I don't think it need painting. It looks great wooden plus it won't chip and wear in the weather:)

Hutches all look the same to me and don't interest me much.

But when I look at this I literally said out loud "Wow that's amazing"

Ahhh that hutch is just lovely!! Thanks for sharing! I only have indoor piggies so cant advise on paint - sorry!

mine normally live indoors too, this is just a 'playing out' hutch, they'll be coming in on a night again soon now it's getting colder, this is the indoor cage :)

thanks everybody, i'm really chuffed with it, and the jinnywigs think it's fab :)

What a fab hutch - I thought mine was nice until I saw that :))

If you want to protect the wood on your hutch then places like B&Q and homebase sell a pet and child safe wood stain, should be fairly easy to find.

I've done my hutch in a coat of it (and the kids wendy house!) and had no problems and guinea pigs fine :)

HTH
