Hi

I have been working on a project to convince my mum to let me get a C&C Cage for Oreo. She has said maybe, depending on cost and how nice it looks. So far, I have calculated I will need 32 grids (if I get a 1 by 3 grid loft) for a 3 by 3 C&C Cage with a loft (size TBC) (including bases) but I'm not too sure on how much correx I'll need. Each grid will be 35.5 cm in length and height. The cage will have two wire panels at the front for the bottle, extra interaction and ventilation. I'll be using either of the links for grids, depending on how many I need.

The 3 by 3 part will be 106.5cm by 106.5cm. I'm not sure how big the loft will be though. Currently, my options are a 1 by 3, 1 by 2 or a 2 by 2 (grids). The 1 by 2 and 2 by 2 would just be the lofts from C and C Guinea Pig Cages and so would be a lot easier to buy and build but much more expensive. My other option is a 1 by 3 which I would build myself but I'm not sure how much correx I would need. What would be the best size loft for Oreo? I can't have it overlapping too much on the cage because the cage would have overhead access only and will be in the corner of my lounge, meaning it will be tough to clean :(.

How could I calculate the amount of correx I would need? I've only found 1.2m by 2m correx so far but would like something more 1.5m by 1.5m for the cage base. I will be buying this myself out of pocket money and Christmas present vouchers so may have to buy the loft after the initial cage set up.

How can I score the correx and would should I use to score and cut it?

I understand this isn't very big compared to some of the other set ups that some people have but I simply don't have the space and Oreo isn't very active as it is. He gets very nervous in large open spaces but I think he will like the amount of extra space. This will be an upgrade from a Ferplast 120 for a single elderly boar.

Thank you :)

P.S. I will also use this thread for updates on the C&C if I can get it.

I ended up ordering 33 plastic grids for Oreo's C&C cage as my mum said yes :))! My grids are arriving between Saturday and next Saturday! I'm so happy and excited! He will have twice as much space as before! So far I have spent £27.99.

I still would like advice for the correx though. I'm not ordering that until I've measured up with physical grids.

I am going to enquire to C&C Guinea Pig Cages about how much a correx insert and ramp for a 3 by 1 loft would be as I have enough grids already. I will be ordering some plain wire grids for the front of the cage as well.

Where did you get the grids from? Sounds like a really good price.

The grids arrived Thursday but only had time to set them up yesterday afternoon. They are a little flimsier than I thought they would be, but listing said they should hold 10kg per grid, which is more than enough.

I love the set up and it looks amazing, more than big enough :). It fits perfectly in the corner of my lounge.

So far, he's only had play time in the new cage because I don't have correx yet, and am only allowed to use fleece at play time. I can attach a bottle to the cage, even without grids and the hay tray fits in. He can have a few hours a day in there as it is secure enough to leave him in it, unsupervised. My only issue is he's very nervous in the cage, he's just hiding in his house the whole time or darting from one to the other. He's never been like that in his other cage. How can I help him adjust to more space?

I have enquired about a correx insert and ramp for a 1 by 3 loft and will be ordering that as well as some wire grids from C and C Cages as soon as they reply to my email. I am considering a fleece liner for upstairs, where Oreo can chill and be king of the world and also have his fleece items.

I will also be ordering my correx, as soon as I find a cheap supplier.

Where did you get the grids from? Sounds like a really good price.

Sorry just seen this.

These are the grids I ordered. They are great value for money :)
