Hi Everyone!

I noticed a huge ball of poop half way through Streakys bum on Sunday. I managed to get it out gently with some gloves. He’s a 4 and a half year old boy. I searched on the forum about what it could be and it seems like it could be impaction. It’s happened again tonight as well I’m going to book him into the vets to see if it is that. I do have a picture of it too. Has anyone else had this problem with their piggy’s? And do vets give any treatment towards it or do they just show you how to remove it?

Thanks!

@Streaky If you think he needs a wellness check then it would be worth it. When my boys start to get older I usually take them for a good check over by the vet.

Impaction isn't really something that can be resolved as it relates to the muscles in their behind becoming looser as they age. It's just a case of helping them with it. A bit of a stinky job but nothing stressful or painful for your piggy.

Ah okay thank you. I’ve booked him into the vets, but yes it’s definitely been stinky when I’ve cleaned him out! Is it painful for him when he is impacted?

I clean Colin 3 times a day to prevent a huge build up!

I've got used to doing it now but it is a bit of a stinky job!
Yes it certainly is stinky! Do you just use warm cotton balls to clean the bum area after you’ve taken the poop out?

With the lack of muscle tone it's not painful but I can imagine it feels uncomfortable if it builds up.

Good luck at the vets, it's always worth a trip as you never know what the vet will say. They might be aware of a way to deal with it better.

Once I've dealt with it I do tend to give his bottom a quick wipe with a warm wet cotton ball.
