My poor little dude has to go to the vet today as he’s started squeaking when peeing and pooping. No blood in his urine and his poops are solid, so assuming it’s a UTI. I’ve been lucky and never had a pig get a UTI before so I’m super worried. Send some love to my little Eddie-Bom-Beddie.

Oh you poor handsome boy, Sir George knows your pain. Behave nicely for the vet and you will get some yummy syringe stuff that will make you feel much better. Hopefully it won't effect your appetite, Sir George has never had that side effect so it's not guaranteed. Daily weighing is advisable to make sure x

Hi and welcome

You may find this guide here helpful. It provides an overview over the different urinary tract infections (both bacterial and the newer sterile version that is not so well known) with some practical care tips. Symptoms for the various issues in the urinary tract can look very similar and can take several days to fully manifest, which can make a diagnosis for a vet rather a bit of a challenge:

All the best. We are here for practical tips and any questions along the way.

He was a reasonably good boy….until we tried nail trimming. The audacity!

He’s just had his metacam with his veggie dinner so hope that’ll do the trick. He wasn’t much impressed with the metacam though!

Did he get an antibiotic too?
If he doesn't develop a taste for metacam he'll be the only piggy that doesn't, I expect he's new to syringes?

No, vet lady said that as I caught it early she recommended an anti-inflammatory first and see how he goes. His urine is clear, examination showed no pain or internal issues, healthy weight, eating and drinking, so she wasn’t too worried for now.

He is new to syringes yes! I’m not with pigs, but he is. He didn’t seem impressed and I thought it smelled awful but maybe he’ll get used to it! 🙂
