Hello everyone…Hazel and I are new here :)

Hazel is nearly 7 and has had a wet bottom for the past few days yet is eating fine and has normal bowel movements/urine colour. She was recently put on Metacam, Tramadol, and Gabapentin for management of her arthritis and dental issues. I’ve heard certain medications can cause frequent urination or muscle relaxation and, since she never had any symptoms before taking her meds, I’m wondering if they are causing her wet bottom. I’m worried I’m missing signs of an infection…any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forum

Being arthritic she may not be moving as much and it may just be that she is sitting in urine but it would be best to get her to a vet so they can check her urine in case an infection has started

I hope she is ok.

Welcome to the forum Hazel! 😘
You are on a lot of pain relief! Does your owner want to tell us a bit more about your issues? I've heard of different pain meds being added in over time but not of everything being prescribed all at once! Perhaps each is once a day at a different time or something. Are your teeth a big problem for you? Or is your arthritis stopping you from moving about? You've been looked after wonderfully well to have reached such a great age ❤️

Thank you... we try our best❤️ Hazel's Metacam is for her spinal arthritis and prevents her self barbering...luckily she has been fine mobility wise. Her other meds were prescribed following a recent vet visit when we found out her teeth are overgrown. Our vet suggested her "medicine cocktail" was the best option to keep her comfortable and without pain. We take it day by day with her and she still loves eating and calling for food whenever the fridge opens.
