Possible mites?

Hi! My 9 month old Abyssinian Simba has whitish flakes in his fur and a little cut do you think these are mites? They aren’t welded to his fur and brush out- vet visit or over the counter do you think? Here are some pics- thank you x

Specks stuck to the hair shaft are likely to be mite egg casings.
Please see a vet for diagnosis and to be prescribed the correct treatment course dosed by weight (three separate treatments with two weeks between each treatment).
Please also disinfect the cage ideally using F10.

Please don’t be tempted to use a pet shop parasite products - they aren’t strong enough to deal with the issue.

Thank you! Do you recommend throwing all the hay out? I have an unopened bag but from the same company? Also should I treat my other piggy? I’ve booked the vets at 2pm today xx

We do recommend that hay is thrown out along with any item which can’t be disinfected with F10.

Both piggies will need to be treated
