Hello! I have a soon to be six year old guineapig, I noticed that she does have a little more dandruff for awhile now, and she has been itching herself a lot more. I don’t see any bald spots or scabs, but I’m not sure what it could be. There’s no vet places open due to the coronavirus and my state governor issued a stay at home order, so I’m at a loss of what to do. Is it dry skin, or mites? She eats a lot and has been healthily pooping for weeks now as well as relaxing when I pet her. I am also worried she’s a little on the thin side, is it normal to feel a bit of the spine at the top? I can’t feel it once it goes towards her mid section, but I do feel it towards her back. It’s so hard to tell because she’s a long haired, very fluffy guineapig. She does more scratching and hasn’t bit at her skin or anything.

Are Vets still open in your area? Check the websites. In the UK vets are still open but with huge distancing measures when handing pets over at many branches

I don’t think so— none of the ones we usually go to have answered their phones. Our stay at home order is active tonight, so from tonight on— going outside is frowned upon unless it’s for buying food.
