Hi all!

Posting here as everyone was so helpful when Hazel had health issues last year!

Last summer my piggy Hazel had dental issues and had to have a dental procedure which was thankfully successful and she has done really well since then! She gained back all the weight she lost and has maintained it ever since. Her eating is generally good as long as she has a fairly soft brand of hay (normally the soft cut from HayBox)

This morning when cleaning out the cage and doing their weekly checks I noticed Hazel’s eyes looked a bit different. She has always had fatty eyelids but they seemed to be bulging a bit? Bulging might not be the right word, I can’t really explain it so I will add some pictures. The third picture where she is sat in the hay was from a few months ago for comparison.

What do you think? Is this something to be concerned about? After what we went through last year I’ve been so paranoid about her health so I don’t know if it’s that or if there is a real problem here. I’ve never noticed this with any previous piggies.

Hi

It looks like fatty eye to me when in usually older piggies the lower eyelid falls away and exposes a healthy looking light pink conjunctive at the back end of the eye. It is not at all uncommon.
