Hi, my 5 year old female guinea pig recently had surgery to remove a bladder stone and up until now she seemed fully recovered. This surgery in total cost £600 and now I'm seeing the same symptoms as last time (wet back end, vocalising when touching back) so I think she may have another one. It's only been a month since this surgery.
I'm not sure what to do because I never planned to have even more expensive treatment (which as a uni student isn't great).

I just wondered what peoples thoughts are and what possibilities there are.

Thanks

Sadly I do believe that piggies can get more than one stone, there has certainly been piggies on here that have had recurring stones.I am so sorry, it’s a very difficult situation and a lot money. Take the time to equaluate the best options for you both x

I’m so sorry. I think I’d take her back to see the vets to find out if she does have another stone or whether she has a more simple UTI requiring antibiotics. I think it’s possible for piggies to develop stones quite quickly if they have an absorption issue.
