Hi all,

Being new to piggies, I am after some advice re popcorning.

This morning, my 2 piggies were both jumping in the air and twisting around - is this whats called popcorning and why do they do it ?

Claire

That is it and it's because they are happy. :(|)

It's funny to watch isn't it?

Yes, they were popcorning, and it an expression of sheer joy and letting off some steam at the same time. If yours do, they feel right at home now! :)):)):))

I got all emotional watching them this morning as its the first time that they have done it (how sad am I). I am so glad that they are happy!

Also, when i was cuddling them this morning, I thought I heard one of them purr - well it was more like i thought i felt one of them purr to be honest. When i stroked her, I am sure i felt a slight vibration coming from her (thats the best way I can explain it)

Was that a purr as I am still unsure what their noises mean at the moment?

Claire

That was probably a purr; so yours have decided that they are at home with you and are happy! Well done - it's such a special moment! :)):)):))

Thanks so much - I have only managed to get through by asking everyone on here for help and advice as I have had so many questions. You have all been wonderful. x

i just love watching piggies popcorning and running fast laps round their cage :):):)

Mine seem to be worse during the evening - wherever they are, they just go for it bless them. They can also jump so high when pop corning - i thought they had hiccups at first !

It's a real joy to see them do it for the first time (and lots of times after too!). My favourite is when new babies do it for the first time. They seem to startle themselves, and do it all over again. xx

My piggies are only 8 weeks old and one does it which makes the other one jump so then she does it too and then they are both buncing round the hutch like mad things - what with that and their mad laps around the grass when in their run !

When I was new to piggy ownership and they did it for the first time, I thought they had fleas :red :red xx

I'm so glad that your piggies are happy and popcorning to show you. Dont worry, I too had little tears of joy when my girls first popcorned...I had been reading up on guinea's for a while before i got them and yet when they did it.....this emotion came over me....i was laughing and crying all in the same breath! I've had mine a total of 5 1/2 weeks...but it feels like a lifetime! Congrats on your Happy Piggies!
