One of our new guinea pigs is poorly :( He just sits there and looks very sad. Started yesterday when the other one decided he was going to spend the day humping his head (poor boy, didn't look dignified at all!).

There haven't been any quarrels over who's in charge and there's def been no bloody drawn but he looks really miserable. He's peeing and pooing without any problems but that's about it.

We've got him in the run today by himself (on the lounge floor!) with some food and his tunnel so he can have some quiet time if he wants to and if he's no better tomorrow it's off to the vets.

Perhaps he's not 'ill', just a little sad. How long have you had them?

We've only had them a week - he's def not right, very quiet today compared to yesterday and the day before.

OH is sat in the run with him and he's just slunk over and up onto her jeans and is now sat on her lap with his head burrowed under her jumper! Poor little boy, he's not happy.

maybe he's missing old friends or maybe he's just this way? ruby can be in a "pensive an thoughtful" mood for a day or two, then, when you think she's really poorly this time, she goes mad popcorning and running really fast! Sometimes they are quiet for a while. Can you have cuddle time and hand feed him? This usually perks ruby up anyway x

Also, if it's only started since the other one jumped on his head, maybe he's a bit bruised? Give him quiet cuddles away from the cage and hand feed him some small veggies. Maybe even lie with him on your bed? I do that with my girls and they've quite happy to lie on me and recieve strokes. He probably needs a vet if he's still the same later on today though x

i dont think he is necessarily ill, like others have said it could be where he is missing his other friends, or it could be just his personality. I would give him plenty of cuddles and lots of attention, just keep an eye on him, and if you are really concerned, then see a vet to put your mind at rest.

sorry your piggies is not himself. If he is pooing and peeing and eating then he is probably just getting used to his new home and not being top dog. If he stops eating taking him stright to the vets, other wise lots of extra food should help.

*hugs* for you both. let us know the outcome! i'm sending out good luck vibes! xxxxx :)pxoxo^)x>>:...

Just got back - he's not a happy little pig at all :( Vet said he's a little stressed but doesn't seem ill. 2 days ago the water bottle managed to fall from the side of the cage and went crashing to the ground - the vet thinks he's still shaken from that and will pick up in his own time.

If he's not eaten anything by close of surgery tonight (8pm) we need to take him back otherwise we've just got to keep him quiet and warm.

You can buy critical care from the vets (I'm surprised they didn't give you any) which is a liquid feed containing everything he needs and that can be syringed to him rather than waiting for him to feed as piggies should not go for long periods of time without eating.

He didn't mention that - I've got to go out again in a bit so I'll pop in and get some.

He didn't make it :( He passed away about 5 minutes after I left. The Colonel is looking a bit lost at the moment trying to find his friend but we're distracting him with lots of cuddles and food.

Probably going to look for a friend for him at some point but not just yet.

Oh no, I'm so sorry. :( They go down hill so fast. He must have had something wrong with him. Maybe it was a genetic problem. There are loads of noises in our house with my girls and things getting knocked over by them and the pigs don't bother about it except for rumbling at it so I doubt a noise would spook a pig that much that they stop eating.

I would imagine he was quite poorly, poor little guy. Having had a pig like this with no outward symptoms it can be baffling. Hope your other pig is ok. Thinking of you. x

Oh no i'm so sorry. Poor little guy. Run free at the bridge.

Ohhh,i'm so sorry for your loss. i don't know what to say, but i'm thinking of you and your other piggie and wishing you both the best and sending my love xxxxxxxxxxxx
