I got my guinea pig out today and noticed the lump in his bum, I’m not sure what it is and wondered if anybody had any ideas? DB88A27B-DADF-413B-A9CA-21C0DDB83769.webp49F2507B-AD38-4076-A813-52F3F6EC2D47.webp

Ouch! That looks like quite a bit of impaction, which is a problem that affects around 10% of usually older boars when the muscles at the back gradually weaken and are no longer able to push out the redigested caecotrophs (the poos that contain the digestible but not fully broken down fibre for the second run through the gut). Impaction is a progressive incurable problem although apart from regular clearing out (which needs be done - depending on the severity - every few days to several times a day) - there are a few measures that can stabilise it
for a while in the early stages in addition to a vitamin B supplement.
If in any doubt, please see a vet.

You can find videos and the practical diet and feeding recommendations from an impaction boar owner in our impaction guide link here. Please take the time to read and watch it: Impaction - How To Help Your Guinea Pig.

I had an old boar that had this. I had to push it out for him every day. AND IT STANK. 🤢. Get your piggy seen by a vet to make sure there’s nothing else going on though. Hope it’s just impaction.
